Campaign Watch: Waitrose summer picnic advert

Thursday May 29, 2008 / Categories: Advertising

The new ‘Everyone deserves quality food, everyone deserves Waitrose’ tv advert is one of those commercials that isn’t really iconic or special but is weirdly captivating (click here for info on the song).

Nothing much happens in it other than a massive picnic!

What really impressed me about the campaign is that the messaging and visuals from the advert is the first thing you see when you log on to the website.

There’s even a call to action to watch the advert on the website.

Nobody is going to be able to have a picnic this year without thinking of Waitrose.

The song in the advert is ‘Going up the Country’ by Canned Heat. The song is included on their Greatest Hits album, which you can buy from Amazon.co.uk.

To be honest I thought this advert was lazy, as pretty as it may be I am getting a bit bored of adverts abut people coming together to do ‘stuff’ I think it was Orange that started the craze last year and Sony have over done it with the Bravia adverts. I want something new :(
