Angela Tassoni-Newley’s jewellery party in Chelsea

Thursday May 15, 2008 /

Wednesday night I went to Angela Tassoni-Newley’s jewellery and cocktail party in Chelsea.

On show were Angela’s range of necklaces (above, with my glass of bubbles), which are made from antique brooches, buckles and trinkets combined with precious stones.

Angela’s jewellery has been featured in Vogue and she’s not short of celebrity followers. Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani are both fans of Tassoni jewellery as is her mother-in-law Joan Collins, who also turned up to the party.

Being a patriot I was immediately drawn to the Union Flag necklace, which I’m sure Geri Halliwell could pull off teamed with a floor length black number.

I wanted to see what it looked like on, and as Geri Halliwell wasn’t available my OSOYOU colleague Rebecca did the honours and modelled it for me, and in the words of Bruce Forsyth didn’t she do well?!

I’m not really a wearer of jewellery - especially the women’s variety - but after much force and persuasion I did try on one of Angela’s necklaces, much to the amusement of everyone around, and Angela who got in on this photo!

If Angela ever launches a men’s range, you know where she got the inspiration!

Tassoni is stocked at Felt in London and Linda Dresner in New York.

BT PodShow launch party at Shoreditch House

Wednesday May 14, 2008 /

Two parties. One night. Second stop: The BT PodShow launch party at Shoreditch House.

Shoreditch House is erm… very Shoreditch. Too cool for school, rough around the edges but glam enough for the most fabulous glamonistas.

The perfect place then for BT to launch it’s PodShow website BTPodshow.com.

Who would have thought that one of the UK’s most boring corporate brands would align itself to such a trendy London hang out?

Party goers were “treated” to a collection of video podcasts from the website. The sound of the videos was muted and we listened to the tones of the resident DJ.

Zoe and I missed Alexa Chung’s set as we were too busy people watching at The Hoxton Pony launch, but we did spot a very crazy Alice Dellal and her very EC1 crowd out-trendying (is that a word?) everyone and being the epitome of Hoxton cool.

Visit the BT Podshow website.

The Hoxton Pony bar launch party

/

Two parties. One night. First stop: The Hoxton Pony bar launch.

A very cool crowd descended onto Shoreditch’s trendy Curtain Road for the launch of The Hoxton Pony bar.

Formerly known as The Pool Bar, the place was scheduled to relaunch as The Stoned Pony but was changed to The Hoxton Pony at the last minute. Why? You tell me.

Anyway, the crowd was buzzing and it looked like a great place to hang out, but without the je ne sais quoi of an exclusive bar The Hoxton Pony looks set to be just another Shoreditch bar.

Not bad. Not Good. Just another bar in Hoxton - but a nice one at that.

This weekend is the official launch weekend of the bar so be sure to stop by and have a drink if you’re in the area - 104-108 Curtain Road, EC2.

Tip: Check out the mirrors on the bottom floor, they make the room look massive! And also what seems to be the remains of a crushed car on the wall (pic below) in the main bar - strange.

(Thanks for the Champagne guys!)

Fila Party Part Two: Harvey’s got my style

Wednesday April 23, 2008 /

Now I know people criticise Harvey and Javine (for something they did years ago, for doing something lots of people have done), but from what I saw they were a down to earth couple who are defo in love.

Will people ever get over the anti Harvey and Javine stuff?

I told Harvey I liked his glasses - maybe he’s been reading this blog and decided to copy my style!

DJ Spoony was playing some dance tunes and Harvey decided to play the drums on Javines bum - she gave him that “I like the attention you’re giving me but we’re in public so if you don’t stop doing that you’re not getting any tonight” look than women give their blokes. He promptly stopped.

Fila Party Part One: Me, Zoe Lem and filming!

/

Just got back from the Fila Party at the pop-up store in Earlham Street Covent Garden to celebrate 35 years of Fila.

It was very geezerish-meets-fashion crowd. Celebs included Javine and Harvey (Click here to see Harvey copy my white glasses style), Danny Dyer (sorry girls didn’t get a picture) and Radio 1’s DJ Spoony (below) was on the decks.

Zoe and I had a big catch up and shared it with cameras. We were filming a pilot TV show on the street and they followed us walking into the party (cue everyone looking at us thinking “who are they?").

As if we didn’t have enough camera work for one night we had the team from Playstation video us and take pictures for the Playstation section!

Launch party at Punk for Nick Ede and Brendan Courtney’s I Hate My Look

Tuesday April 22, 2008 /

I’ve just come back from the launch party of Project Catwalk judge, Nick Ede, and Clothes Show presenter Brendan Courtney’s new personal styling service I Hate My Look at Punk nightclub, hang out of celebs like Peaches Geldof and Agyness Deyn.

I spotted the guys from the Daily Mail and OK! magazine there snapping all the celebrities (one of whom came, had her photo taken, then left - she shall remain nameless).

Me with Fiza from OSOYOU
Check out Nick and Brendan’s website www.ihatemylook.com

As I was leaving the event Anna Krahn, from Tara Palmer-Tompkinson’s website 3sacrowd.com, ran up the stairs to stop me to say hello (she’s a fab writer who goes to lots of parties and premieres).

I didn’t get a goody bag as I left early, but I will make it my mission to find out what was inside and let you know!

Tonight was an early one, as I’m saving myself for something exciting that’s happening tomorrow night.

Here are a couple of photos from Alison Jackson’s new collection, which I saw last week at the private viewing at Hamilton’s Gallery.

Private viewing of Alison Jackson’s lookalike photography

Wednesday April 16, 2008 /

I went to Alison Jackson’s private viewing at Hamiltons Gallery.

For anyone that doesn’t know, Alison Jackson photographs celebrity lookalikes.

Alison’s photographs included The Queen washing up complete with marigolds, A police officer checking Amy Winehouse’s barnet and Simon Cowell with a hard on!

Silly me for not taking any photos - if I can source some, I shall put them up.

Launch party for Couverture & The Garbstore boutique in Notting Hill

Friday April 11, 2008 /

Emily Dyson and Ian Paley put on a party to celebrate the opening of Couverture & The Garbstore in Notting Hill.

image

I sipped champagne with stylist Jonni Fitzgerald and PR expert Lee Johnson (pictured). Jasmine Guiness was also there, although expected celebs Elle MacPherson (who the Daily Mail were waiting for) and Sadie Frost were no shows.

image

Emily and Ian should be proud. The shop is an eclectic mish mash of trendiness and I think it works really well - although I did have my doubts at first.

There’s everything from posh frocks to glitzy baby clobber and trendy New York inspired men’s urban fashion.

They’ve even got retro gifts too.

Couverture & The Garbstore - think Urban Outfitters with the wow factor and pleasure factor multiplied by 10. (And probably the damage to your bank balance too.)

NMA Social Media drinks at Alphabet Bar

Thursday April 03, 2008 /

NMA magazine held a get together at the Alphabet Bar in Soho for people working in social media to network.

Tony from Centaur media was making me and my OSOYOU colleagues Rebecca and Fiza laugh (above).

I also got to speak to Chris Osborne, who runs BoxedUp.com, and Hugo Burge from Cheap Flights. Both great guys who are passionate about the tech and new media industries.

Tommy Hilfiger Dreaming fragrance launch party

Wednesday March 19, 2008 /

Yesterday I went to the fragrance launch of Dreaming, the new perfume by Tommy Hilfiger with my OSOYOU colleague Fiza Khan (pictured with me below) and stylist Zoe Lem.

We drank sparkling wine and had some gorgeous grilled courgette and watercress canapés as we watched an exclusive preview of the advert for the new Dreaming fragrance.

image

As the perfume is called Dreaming, Estee Lauder had Psychic TV’s Laura Daligan on hand to analyse our dreams. Zoe, Fiza and I revealed our recent dreams to Laura Daligan trying to get some answers to their meaning!

The Dreaming perfume is out in May 2008.

100 years of Converse - Converse Century Party

Friday March 07, 2008 /

Last night I was joined by a very trendy fashion crowd at the Hoxton Bar & Grill for the Converse Century party to celebrate one-hundred years of Converse trainers.

Agyness Deyn’s arrival with designer Henry Holland got the paparazzi in a spin, whilst my party partner Zoe Lem and I danced away to Jodie Harsh’s DJ set.

It was a great party. But not such a good morning after!

B-eating eating disorders party at the Met Bar

Friday February 29, 2008 /

Last year there was some criticism aimed at social networking websites Facebook and MySpace for failing act quickly enough on the growing number of pro-anorexia groups on their websites.

As we were just about to launch OSOYOU, I wanted to speak to Susan Ringwood from the UK’s leading eating disorders charity b-eat. After meeting Susan it became clear that b-eat should be OSOYOU’s chosen charity.

image

We decided to organise an event at London’s very swish Met Bar, with help from Dove Spas, for the charity’s Just 1 Day campaign.

The event theme was “feeling good about yourself”, so we had therapists giving massages, The Body Gossip sofa - a sofa where people write how they feel about their body - and stars such as Sarah Jayne Dunn and Mikyla Dodd (Mandy and Chloe from Hollyoaks), the Samanda twins and Jen Hunter showed their support by turning up.
